We’ve rescheduled our film fest in the redwoods for May 9th! That means you can still submit films until May 5th. Remember, your submission must be a short film (1-5 minutes), based on one chapter from a book.

We’re pleased to be showing 24 original floral and botanical ink drawings by UK-based illustrator Lucy Augé at our Oakland shop this Friday, Nov. 7th.

Experimental music specialist Ben Kreith will be performing live at our Oakland shop during First Friday activities. There will be two rounds of performance from 7-9 PM. 487 D 49th St., Oakland, CA 94609. The program in Oakland will include:

We’ve got 22 charming new paintings from New York-and-California-based artist Jane Mount of Ideal Bookshelf! Come meet Jane tonight and shop for that book-loving loved one in your life. Jane paints portraits of people through the spines of their favorite books: the ones that changed their lives, that defined who they are, that they read again and again.
Jane has painted 22 new paintings for this show. 21 of the paintings feature single spines from perennial favorites like “Catcher in the Rye”, “Alice in Wonderland”, “East of Eden”, (and they’re only $99 each!). We’re also premiering a gorgeous new group portrait of classic poetry titles.
On hand also are postcards, greeting cards (including just-in-time Christmas cards!), bookmarks, prints, and signed copies of Jane’s book (published by Little, Brown). See images below and visit Jane’s website to learn more about her brilliant and colorful work.
Jane’s work will be available at our Oakland store through Dec. 24th.
